Eons ago I was in a high school production of Cinderella. It was a very minor part – a woman at the ball with just one line. I knew I was not a natural performer but I loved the costumes and the whole experience of being in a play. When I retired I was looking for something creative to do and I remembered how fun and exciting it was to be in that play so I contacted East Side Players and asked if they could use some help with costumes or scenery. Little did I know that community theatre groups can always use help with everything 😉

I wound up doing the costumes for two plays and working with another designer on a big production of Shakespeare in Love. I was creating a flamboyant codpiece that was the finishing touch to my first costume for the play when COVID forced everything to shut down. A few months later the theatre company had to close down because it couldn’t sustain the cost of renting the warehouse space with no money coming in.
